On Thursday, May 29th, Kristine Lilly and Kristin Slater ran two clinics for
Sachems FC players at Manchester Field in Winchester. The first clinic was for the younger players up through U11 and
the second clinic was for U12 through U17. Both clinics focused on ball-handling and finishing.
Lilly is the world's all-time leader in appearances, having appeared in more
than 300 matches for the United States Women's National Team. She is also the second all-time leading scorer in U.S. and world
history with 129 goals and 103 assists (trailing only Mia Hamm). She has won two World Cup titles (1991 and 1999) and two
Olympic gold medals (1996 and 2004) for the U.S., as well as four National Championships for North Carolina (1989,
1990, 1991, and 1992). The 36-year old Lilly is taking time off from soccer as she is over 7 months pregnant with her first
child. She hopes to return to professional soccer after birth, but even if she does not, she will go down as one of the best
players in the history of women's soccer.
Kristin Slater is currently an assistant coach for the Northeastern University women's soccer
team, which is led by Sachems FC coach Ed Matz. Slater played goalkeeper for the Boston Breakers of the WUSA in 2002-2003.
